Commercial utility bill auditing in Oregon

Oregon offers Direct Access for nonresidential electricity accounts under the applicable program and utility terms. Our listed coverage focuses on business electricity billing review.

Oregon electricity utilities and billing review

Representative delivery utilitiesPortland General Electric; Pacific Power

Portland General Electric and Pacific Power are the utility examples highlighted here. An eligible Direct Access customer purchases electricity from a certified electricity service supplier while the local utility continues distribution. We identify which services and charges belong to each company before comparing the bill with the applicable documents.

Nonresidential Direct Access; tariff and program conditions apply.

Put the account’s terms in context

Direct Access terms are not the same as a standard retail supply offer from another state. The review uses the account’s enrollment arrangement, supplier agreement, utility tariff, and billing period. Historical adjustments need to be kept with the statements they correct.

Evidence before conclusions

Follow the charge back to the record.

A useful Oregon utility audit identifies the disputed line item, the billing dates, and the contract or tariff provision that should apply. We compare the calculation with those records and distinguish a possible error from a supported recovery claim.

A recent statement can help identify questions. A full historical review needs the records for the affected periods, with corrected bills and credits kept alongside the originals.

Records to prepare for your Oregon bill review

  • A recent complete utility statement, including every page
  • The service address and state for each account
  • Any separate energy supplier invoices
  • Supplier agreements and renewal notices
  • Historical statements, payments, credits, and rebills
  • Meter or interval data when relevant to the questioned charge

Keep multiple locations organized by account. We define the full scope with you before recovery work begins. See our process and standard recovery pricing for the engagement steps.

Oregon utility audit questions

Does a Direct Access supplier become my local delivery utility?

No. The local utility retains its distribution role. The supply agreement and the delivery records answer different parts of a billing question.

Can you review past utility overpayments?

Our agreed historical review can cover up to 36 months of available records. A recoverable period depends on the account, applicable rules, contract, deadlines, and evidence. One questionable charge is not automatically a three-year refund.

What happens after I upload a bill?

The upload provides an AI-assisted preliminary screening for our team. People review the findings and follow up about records and scope. Recovery work requires a signed agreement and letter of authorization.
