Your operation. Your billing records.

A closer look at manufacturing energy bills.

Production schedules, large motors, compressed air, and process heating make a plant’s energy costs more complicated than a monthly total. A manufacturing utility bill audit connects each disputed charge to the tariff, contract, and meter records that applied when it was billed.

What the audit examines

01 / REVIEW FOCUS

Demand and tariff rules

Compare billed kW, meter multipliers, and any demand ratchet with the applicable tariff and interval data. A lower production month does not necessarily remove a valid ratchet charge.

02 / REVIEW FOCUS

Supply contracts and plant changes

Check fixed or indexed pricing, authorized pass-through items, contract renewal dates, and account changes after expansion, shutdown, or a meter replacement.

03 / REVIEW FOCUS

Gas units and adjustments

Trace natural gas volume, conversion factors, applicable heat content, estimated reads, and later corrections across the affected billing periods.

04 / HISTORICAL RECORDS

From a question to a supported claim

Where records and applicable rules allow, review up to three years of billed charges. Each month is checked against the terms that applied then. Identified amounts are distinguished from claims submitted and refunds or credits actually received.

A practical review scenario

Investigate before assuming an error.

A plant reduces its operating shifts but its billed demand stays elevated. That is a reason to examine the tariff’s demand history and interval data—not evidence by itself that the utility overcharged.

This is a hypothetical review example, not a client result or a promise of savings.

Records that move the review forward

  • Electric and gas statements for each production meter
  • Interval demand data and meter-change notices
  • Supplier agreements, amendments, and renewal notices
  • Dates of major shutdowns, expansions, or shift changes

How an industry-specific review works

Upload a recent bill for preliminary AI-assisted screening. Our team receives the findings and confirms account eligibility, the commercial entity, and the records needed for a full review. The first screening is a starting point and requires human verification.

Before recovery work begins, the final audit agreement and limited letter of authorization must be completed and signed. Supported billing disputes are directed to the responsible utility or supplier, and any recovery is verified before the agreed fee is invoiced.

Our standard recovery fee is 30% of actual eligible historical refunds received or credits applied, as defined in the agreement. No recovery means no recovery fee. Lookback periods, eligibility, and recovery depend on the facts and applicable rules. California is excluded; review the service-area guide before submitting.

Manufacturing audit questions

Does a lower production level mean my demand charge is wrong?

No. Demand charges can depend on a short peak or a historical ratchet. We compare the tariff and underlying data before identifying a possible discrepancy.

Can you check both electricity and natural gas?

Yes, for eligible commercial accounts within the agreed service area and scope. Supply and delivery can appear on separate bills, and the responsible supplier or utility may differ for each disputed item.

Does a bill review guarantee a refund?

No. A valid charge may look unusual. We need account records and applicable tariff or contract provisions to support an error, and the provider’s review process determines whether a correction is accepted.
