Your operation. Your billing records.

A closer look at food & beverage processing energy bills.

Food and beverage operations can combine refrigeration, electric production equipment, cooking, steam, and hot water. A food processing utility bill audit follows those electricity and natural gas charges through the actual billing rules and supplier agreements.

What the audit examines

01 / REVIEW FOCUS

Electricity for production

Check demand calculations, billing periods, meter multipliers, and applicable tariff classification against the records for each line or building.

02 / REVIEW FOCUS

Natural gas for process heat

Examine supplier pricing, transport and delivery items, billing units, conversion factors, and adjustments. Physical consumption changes are evaluated separately from billing accuracy.

03 / REVIEW FOCUS

Tax treatment and credits

Review documented exemption eligibility, certificates, and account adjustments without assuming that every production activity qualifies for an exemption.

04 / HISTORICAL RECORDS

From a question to a supported claim

Where records and applicable rules allow, review up to three years of billed charges. Each month is checked against the terms that applied then. Identified amounts are distinguished from claims submitted and refunds or credits actually received.

A practical review scenario

Investigate before assuming an error.

A processor has an exemption certificate on file but questions tax charges on selected accounts. The review confirms the certificate, effective dates, qualifying usage, and the procedure for a supported correction.

This is a hypothetical review example, not a client result or a promise of savings.

Records that move the review forward

  • Electric and gas bills for production and support buildings
  • Supplier contracts and gas transportation agreements, if applicable
  • Exemption certificates and their effective dates
  • Production-site changes and meter records

How an industry-specific review works

Upload a recent bill for preliminary AI-assisted screening. Our team receives the findings and confirms account eligibility, the commercial entity, and the records needed for a full review. The first screening is a starting point and requires human verification.

Before recovery work begins, the final audit agreement and limited letter of authorization must be completed and signed. Supported billing disputes are directed to the responsible utility or supplier, and any recovery is verified before the agreed fee is invoiced.

Our standard recovery fee is 30% of actual eligible historical refunds received or credits applied, as defined in the agreement. No recovery means no recovery fee. Lookback periods, eligibility, and recovery depend on the facts and applicable rules. California is excluded; review the service-area guide before submitting.

Food & Beverage Processing audit questions

Does manufacturing food automatically qualify us for a tax refund?

No. Tax treatment depends on the jurisdiction, activity, documentation, and applicable procedures. We examine the specific account rather than assuming eligibility.

Can you check both electricity and natural gas?

Yes, for eligible commercial accounts within the agreed service area and scope. Supply and delivery can appear on separate bills, and the responsible supplier or utility may differ for each disputed item.

Does a bill review guarantee a refund?

No. A valid charge may look unusual. We need account records and applicable tariff or contract provisions to support an error, and the provider’s review process determines whether a correction is accepted.
