Your operation. Your billing records.

A closer look at schools, colleges & campuses energy bills.

Educational campuses can have classrooms, residence buildings, kitchens, athletic facilities, and central plants on separate accounts. An education utility bill audit organizes those records and checks billing accuracy without assuming nonprofit or public status creates an automatic refund.

What the audit examines

01 / REVIEW FOCUS

Campus meters and seasonal demand

Reconcile building and central plant accounts, meter identifiers, and demand rules. Academic breaks do not necessarily eliminate tariff demand obligations.

02 / REVIEW FOCUS

Contracts and procurement periods

Compare supplier pricing, contract transitions, enrollment dates, and authorized charges with the applicable executed documents.

03 / REVIEW FOCUS

Exemptions and account corrections

Review tax treatment only where eligibility and valid documentation support it, along with payment credits, deposits, and billing adjustments.

04 / HISTORICAL RECORDS

From a question to a supported claim

Where records and applicable rules allow, review up to three years of billed charges. Each month is checked against the terms that applied then. Identified amounts are distinguished from claims submitted and refunds or credits actually received.

A practical review scenario

Investigate before assuming an error.

A district replaces a meter during a school renovation. We follow the final old-meter reading, new multiplier, service dates, and subsequent adjustments to test the continuity of billing.

This is a hypothetical review example, not a client result or a promise of savings.

Records that move the review forward

  • Campus building and meter inventory
  • Utility bills and executed supply agreements
  • Renovation and meter-replacement dates
  • Applicable exemption documentation; no student records

How an industry-specific review works

Upload a recent bill for preliminary AI-assisted screening. Our team receives the findings and confirms account eligibility, the commercial entity, and the records needed for a full review. The first screening is a starting point and requires human verification.

Before recovery work begins, the final audit agreement and limited letter of authorization must be completed and signed. Supported billing disputes are directed to the responsible utility or supplier, and any recovery is verified before the agreed fee is invoiced.

Our standard recovery fee is 30% of actual eligible historical refunds received or credits applied, as defined in the agreement. No recovery means no recovery fee. Lookback periods, eligibility, and recovery depend on the facts and applicable rules. California is excluded; review the service-area guide before submitting.

Schools, Colleges & Campuses audit questions

Is this an engineering or building efficiency audit?

This service examines utility and supplier billing. Equipment performance, facility retrofits, and efficiency recommendations are different work and are not implied by a bill audit.

Can you check both electricity and natural gas?

Yes, for eligible commercial accounts within the agreed service area and scope. Supply and delivery can appear on separate bills, and the responsible supplier or utility may differ for each disputed item.

Does a bill review guarantee a refund?

No. A valid charge may look unusual. We need account records and applicable tariff or contract provisions to support an error, and the provider’s review process determines whether a correction is accepted.
