Your operation. Your billing records.

A closer look at hotels & hospitality energy bills.

Guest rooms, laundry, kitchens, hot water, and seasonal occupancy can all influence hotel energy bills. A hotel utility bill audit checks whether the amounts billed follow the applicable rules, rather than treating every occupancy-related increase as an error.

What the audit examines

01 / REVIEW FOCUS

Demand and seasonal operations

Compare metered demand and tariff calculations while accounting for seasonal equipment use and demand history. Occupancy alone does not establish the correct charge.

02 / REVIEW FOCUS

Property and ownership changes

Review service transitions after renovations, acquisitions, management changes, or account closures, including final readings and deposits.

03 / REVIEW FOCUS

Supplier rates and gas usage

Match contract dates and supply pricing, and trace natural gas units and adjustments for laundry, kitchens, and hot-water service.

04 / HISTORICAL RECORDS

From a question to a supported claim

Where records and applicable rules allow, review up to three years of billed charges. Each month is checked against the terms that applied then. Identified amounts are distinguished from claims submitted and refunds or credits actually received.

A practical review scenario

Investigate before assuming an error.

A hotel changes management while retaining the same meters. The review follows the old final statement, new opening balances, deposits, and credits to identify any unsupported overlap.

This is a hypothetical review example, not a client result or a promise of savings.

Records that move the review forward

  • Bills for guest buildings and ancillary facilities
  • Supplier contracts and renewal documents
  • Ownership or management transfer dates
  • Meter-change notices, deposits, and final statements

How an industry-specific review works

Upload a recent bill for preliminary AI-assisted screening. Our team receives the findings and confirms account eligibility, the commercial entity, and the records needed for a full review. The first screening is a starting point and requires human verification.

Before recovery work begins, the final audit agreement and limited letter of authorization must be completed and signed. Supported billing disputes are directed to the responsible utility or supplier, and any recovery is verified before the agreed fee is invoiced.

Our standard recovery fee is 30% of actual eligible historical refunds received or credits applied, as defined in the agreement. No recovery means no recovery fee. Lookback periods, eligibility, and recovery depend on the facts and applicable rules. California is excluded; review the service-area guide before submitting.

Hotels & Hospitality audit questions

Can you review several hotels with different utilities?

Yes, subject to service-area eligibility and agreed scope. Each property needs its own account details, billing records, and applicable contracts; findings are verified account by account.

Can you check both electricity and natural gas?

Yes, for eligible commercial accounts within the agreed service area and scope. Supply and delivery can appear on separate bills, and the responsible supplier or utility may differ for each disputed item.

Does a bill review guarantee a refund?

No. A valid charge may look unusual. We need account records and applicable tariff or contract provisions to support an error, and the provider’s review process determines whether a correction is accepted.
