Cold Storage & Refrigerated Warehouses

Your operation. Your billing records.

## A closer look at cold storage & refrigerated warehouses energy bills.

Refrigeration runs beyond normal office hours, and freezer sites may have several
meters and changing operating loads. Our cold storage utility bill review separates
a legitimate refrigeration peak from a charge that needs further support.

## What the audit examines

01 / REVIEW FOCUS

### Refrigeration demand

Review measured demand and tariff billing demand alongside available interval data.
Defrost cycles, compressor operation, and seasonal loads provide context without
proving an error.

02 / REVIEW FOCUS

### Meters and facility boundaries

Match account numbers and meter identifiers to freezers, loading areas, offices,
and any adjacent facility. Review overlapping service dates and documented meter
exchanges.

03 / REVIEW FOCUS

### Supply and gas charges

Compare electricity supplier pricing with the agreement. Where natural gas serves
heating or other operations, check rates, units, readings, and corrections separately.

04 / HISTORICAL RECORDS

### From a question to a supported claim

Where records and applicable rules allow, review up to three years of billed charges.
Each month is checked against the terms that applied then. Identified amounts are
distinguished from claims submitted and refunds or credits actually received.

A practical review scenario

## Investigate before assuming an error.

A warehouse adds a freezer wing and begins receiving a second statement. We reconcile
the service dates and meter inventory to distinguish a legitimate new account from
duplicate or overlapping billing.

This is a hypothetical review example, not a client result or a promise of savings.

### Records that move the review forward

 * Complete bills for refrigeration and ancillary meters
 * A site meter list with service addresses
 * Interval usage and demand records where available
 * Expansion dates and supplier contract documents

Start with one recent complete bill. Our team will request the additional account
history needed for the agreed scope.

## How an industry-specific review works

Upload a recent bill for preliminary AI-assisted screening. Our team receives the
findings and confirms account eligibility, the commercial entity, and the records
needed for a full review. The first screening is a starting point and requires human
verification.

Before recovery work begins, the final audit agreement and limited letter of authorization
must be completed and signed. Supported billing disputes are directed to the responsible
utility or supplier, and any recovery is verified before the agreed fee is invoiced.

Our standard recovery fee is 30% of actual eligible historical refunds received
or credits applied, as defined in the agreement. No recovery means no recovery fee.
Lookback periods, eligibility, and recovery depend on the facts and applicable rules.
California is excluded; review the [service-area guide](https://rebateenergy.com/utility-audit-service-areas/)

## Cold Storage & Refrigerated Warehouses audit questions

Can you audit a facility without interrupting refrigeration?

The billing review uses records. It does not require shutting down equipment or
changing refrigeration controls. Any separate engineering work would need its own
agreed scope.

Can you check both electricity and natural gas?

Yes, for eligible commercial accounts within the agreed service area and scope.
Supply and delivery can appear on separate bills, and the responsible supplier or
utility may differ for each disputed item.

Does a bill review guarantee a refund?

No. A valid charge may look unusual. We need account records and applicable tariff
or contract provisions to support an error, and the provider’s review process determines
whether a correction is accepted.
